A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip struck Israel's largest city, Tel Aviv on Thursday, where warning sirens have now gone off. However no casualties have been reported, the Israeli army said. Islamic Jihad in Gaza has claimed responsibility for the rocket strike; the armed wing said it had fired an Iranian-built rocket. The Quds Brigades hit the occupied city with a Fajr 5 rocket, which landed in the water, causing a large explosion to shake the city. This is the first air-raid siren in Tel Aviv since 1991. The strike follows an abundant amount of attacks from Israel which have wounded over 130 people. Gaza's Hamas rulers on Thursday said they would not consider a truce with Israel for now stating: "We will not be exposed to further tricks by the occupation. We consider talk of a truce at this time an attempt to provide more cover for the continuation of the escalation on Gaza." However in a press conference in Tel Aviv, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said: "Israel will not tolerate the situation. This is why the government has instructed the [Israeli army] to conduct surgical strikes against the Hamas infrastructure, and Israel will take whatever is necessary to defend its people." Demonstrations are taking place against the injustice being carried out by Israeli forces. Hundreds of Tunisians demonstrated on Thursday against Israel's deadly attacks on Gaza and protests are to take place outside the Israeli embassy in London. It is also being reported that Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil will visit the Gaza Strip on Friday as Israel continues to press a major air campaign against the territory.
