Israel plans to build wall on Lebanese borders

According to information obtained by Arabstoday, Israeli forces started pto plan the building of a reinforcement wall along the borders stretching from Kfar Kila, in the east, to the Israeli settlement in Zarit. Sources told Arabstoday that the wall will be 7km long and 4 to 7 metres tall. A unit from the geographical division of the Israeli army has already surveyed the region with GPRS, the sources said. Meanwhile, international troops said that they were aware of the project, but they were not officially told that concrete steps were being taken, although such actions cannot be taken without their consent. Security forces noticed on Tuesday morning a heavy presence of Israeli forces at Riyak, in the settlement of Metulla, monitoring the Lebanese borders. Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Neeraj Singh revealed that Israel will conduct maintenance works along the technical border fence in the Aitaroun region of Bint Jbeil, the National News Agency reported. He added that Israel informed UNIFIL about its measures and that the international troops relayed the message to the Lebanese army. Singh stated that UNIFIL and the army will monitor the Israel's works at Aitaroun to make sure the Israeli troops do not cross the Blue Line.
