A Jihadist leader is suspected by the Egyptian authorities of having killed the US ambassador to Libya back in September. An investigation has been opened. Washington strongly condemned the defendants in this affair, who they said are a threatening to become a new terrorist group related to al-Qaeda. The Islamist leader Ahmed Galal was arrested last week, a security source told Arabstoday. The investigation is backed by Western powers, the source said, who consider Galal one of the biggest threats to the region since the start of the Arab Spring. When the defendant was released from el-Akrab prison, he became the leader of a terrorist group, added the source. American authorities are currently investigating whether the Egyptian jihadist was involved in the attacks against the US Embassy in Libya on September 11. The investigation currently suspects that Galal participated in the revolution that overthrew Muammar Gaddafi in Libya. The defendant denied being involved in the attack against the US Embassy. The US and Egypt have formed a partnership to tackle terrorism in the region, an American source told Arabstoday.
