Jordanian King Abdullah II accepted the resignation of Interior Minister Hussein Majali on Sunday over "security agencies' failure to coordinate between them over issues concerning citizens' security and stability, said Petra News Agency.
"Stemming from the imperative need to enforce laws and regulations and uphold the rule of law on all and because of security bodies, the Public Security and the Gendarmerie department - failure to coordinate between them on issues concerning citizens' security and stability, and the failure to address these issues according to the required level, Interior Minister Hussein Majali resigned," a statement by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said.
The statement said a royal decree was issued accepting the resignation of the minister stemming from the King's keenness on upholding the rule of law, ensuring security for all.
The prime minister said in the statement that the King ordered the government to "reconsider" the leaderships of both the Public Security and Gendarmerie departments in order to achieve the highest degree of security and stability.
