Egypt's newly elected parliamentary speaker Mohamed Saad Katatni refused to receive a letter of congratulations from Israeli Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, inviting him to visit Israel and deliver a speech inside the Knesset. Freedom and Justice Party member Katatni stated on his Twitter page that the “parliament elected by the will of the people will soon announce the facts concerning martyrs and those injured, followed by decisions which the government will strictly commit to.” Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin had hoped that the Speaker of the new Egyptian parliament would pay Israel and the Knesset a visit, while expressing a hope to visit Egypt soon.
