The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has distributed relief aid to 500 Sudanese families in Hamshkoraib area, 180 km north-east of Kassala state.
The move is part of the foundation's relief campaign to assist the victims of the torrential rains that devastated large parts of the sisterly Republic of Sudan.
Issa Adam, representative of the Governor of Kassala in Hamshkoraib area, praised the fraternal attitude of the UAE and the Khalifa foundation for helping the people of Sudan in such circumstances faced by the Kassala state. He stressed that this humanitarian gesture embodies the meaning of cohesion and links between the two countries, and the two brotherly peoples.
The Sudanese official said a number of families have been displaced as their villages have been damaged by the floods.
