Libya's Islamist-backed government headed by Prime Minister Omar Hassi was dismissed, according to Libya's parliament source.
The Tripoli-based General National Congress (GNC) made the decision after an vote and assigned Khalifa Ghwell to conduct government businesses until a new prime minister is placed, according to a GNC announcement.
GNC did not provide any further details concerning the dismissal.
Some local media reports said the reason for his sack was due to corruption, while Hassi has also failed to bring international recognition for the Tripoli authority.
Libya has been witnessing frayed political process since the 2011 turmoil, which toppled its former leader Muammar Gaddafi, and it is now juggling two rival parliaments, the secular and internationally-recognized House of Representatives, and the Tripoli-based Islamist-backed GNC.
The Islamist militants and pro-secular Libyan national army backing the two parliaments have been vying for cities and towns for months, and fighting still flares near major cities like Benghazi and Tripoli.
