Mauritania temporarily closes border with Mali

The Mauritanian army temporarily closed its eastern border with Mali on Tuesday because of an annual meeting attended by diplomats and members of the government, a security source told Arab Today. The source said Mauritanian authorities deployed troops on the border to monitor any security breaches, adding that security forces in Mauritia have been on a state of alert for the past few days. A military unit has also been formed to monitor the security situation in all the territories adjacent to Mali.
