US Senator John McCain met with Egypt’s Prime Minister Hisham Qandil in the headquarters of Egypt’s Cabinet on Tuesday. They discussed the democratic shift in Egypt in addition to the recent developments witnessed in Syria and Palestine. The US Congressman also met with Egypt’s Minister of Defence Abdel Fatah Al Sisi to discuss how to develop military cooperation between the two countries during the coming period. Members of the American delegation praised the role performed by Egypt’s military institutions during the transitional period, stressing that military leaders honoured their commitment to handing over authority to the elected president and supporting democracy in the country. McCain is also scheduled to meet with Egypt’s Deputy President of Foreign Relations Essam Hadad and a number of opposition figures in addition to members of Egypt’s Shura Council.
