Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci on Monday held talks in Tripoli with his Libyan counterpart on security issues and the fate of the family of Muammar Gaddafi given refuge on Algerian soil will not be allowed to meddle in Libyan affairs. "We discussed security concerns," Libyan Foreign Minister Ashur bin Khayyal told journalists in Tripoli. Asked if they held talks on members of Gaddafi’s family sheltered in Algeria since last year's revolt, Medelci said: "We discussed this matter with clarity, sincerity and transparency." Algeria "received them for humanitarian reasons... but it is not possible for the Gaddafi family to touch a single hair of the Libyan people," he said, declining to answer if Algeria was being asked to hand over family members. Algeria gave shelter last August to Gaddafi's daughter Aisha, her brother Hannibal, their mother Safiya and a number of other family members, children in particular. Aisha angered Algerians in November when she called for the overthrow of Libya's interim government.
