Hamas Chief Khaled Mishaal on Wednesday said Israel failed it's mission, following an announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestine. Speaking at a press conference in Cairo, the Hamas official said "Israel, in all its goals and objectives, has failed. They have failed in their adventure." Mishaal said officials in the West Bank this time had the opportunity to learn that "resistance is the only way." "Egypt was objective and responsible and did not disappoint the Arab and Muslim community. They did not pressure the resistance and understood the Palestinians people's demand and worked towards achieving them," Mishaal said. "We insisted on an end to violence, assassinations and the aerial, ground and naval attacks," he said "and they accepted all our demands, including opening the border crossings." Mishaal said that the conflict ended with an Israeli defeat, describing it as "one stop on the route of defeats." Mishaal stressed that Israel had "committed an act of aggression against Gaza by breaching the truce," adding that "the resistance and the people behind it stood up to the aggression." He referred to the conflict as "not a war in its traditional sense but a treacherous aggression on our folks in Gaza that required us to defend ourselves." "Iran backed us with funding and weapons, even though we disagreed with them on the Syrian situation."
