A torrent of missiles hit the capital of South Kordofan, Sudan on Tuesday for the second time this month. Two children were dead and dozens were injured after the attack which destroyed houses in Kadugli, South Kordofan. Sources said the artillery fire targeted the city centre and caused fear and panic amongst citizens. Reports show some citizens began to flee the city in fear of another attack this weekend during Eid al-Adha. Colonel Sawarmi Khaled Saad, Sudanese Armed Forces spokesman said: “The government is on full alert to deal with attacks like this and prevent their re-occurrence in the future.” He said the attacks are from isolated Sudanese rebels. Sudan’s army has been fighting rebels since June last year just after the referendum that split South Sudan from Sudan. However, Kadugli has been isolated from the fighting until this incident.
