Morocco's Interior Ministry has advised European citizens living or working in North African state to follow state procedures and secure their residency for the immediate future. In a statement aimed at the increasing numbers of Western European citizens visiting the kingdom, the ministry said those pursuing temporary or permanent jobs must make arrangements for their stay, to avoid unnecessary problems. A diplomatic source told Arab Today that Moroccan authorities were told to deal with any requests as a matter of urgency. The communique comes just days after official figures showed an increase in migration from Europe to Morocco, with an influx of foreigners to the northern city of Tangier. Immigrants, the majority of which come from Spain, are required to renew their stay by presenting their passports at the border once every three months.
