Egypt's former President Mohammed Morsi arrived at Akrab Prison in Cairo on Friday evening where he will be held for 15 days pending investigation, a security source told Arab Today. The source reported that Morsi arrived at Aqrab prison “in a military helicopter, in accordance with the decision of the investigating judge Hassan Samir that he be held for 15 days pending investigations into the charges of spying and high treason held against him." The source said that, wary of provoking unrest, the Interior Ministry had not announce the news so as not to fuel the anger of Morsi's supporters. But the development will not come as a surprise to Morsi supporters who gathered outside the prison on Friday in an attempt to ‘free’ the deposed leader, believing he was already being held there. Morsi joins several other senior Muslim Brotherhood figures who were transferred to the maximum security prison last week, according to a security source via the state news agency MENA.
