
H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, received at his palace this afternoon, Arvils Aseradens, Minister for Economics and Deputy Prime Minister of Latvia.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on culture and arts, and ways of to develop them in the best interest of the two countries and peoples.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Latvia said that he discussed with senior officials at the Ministries of Interior, Economy and Education and Etihad Airways aspects of the development of cooperation between the two countries in these areas.
The Republic of Latvia whose capital is Riga, was part of the former Soviet Union. Latvia has a rich folklore that dates back to 1, 000 years. With the population of two and half millions, the unemployment rate in Latvia was 10 per cent two years ago.
After years of economic stagnation triggered by the world economic crisis in 2008, signs of the economic stabilisation started to show in Latvia in 2010. It is classified by the United Nations as a country with a very high human development index.
