Obeidat claims Jordan is in crisis due to king

The Former Jordanian Prime Minister and the head of National Front for Reform Ahmad Obeidat harshly criticized the political situation in Jordan saying, “Jordan lives has been in a political crisis for the last 12 years,” point to the time since King Abdullah II took over the power in Jordan. He said that Jordanians lost their trust in the state’s institutions because of the political corruption, which has created a strange political elite, bureaucrats and businessmen, as well as corrupt journalists. Obeidat, in his opening speech of “Jordan for Reform” conference, Saturday evening pointed out to the corrupted financial and economic policies that overthrew the major developments that were achieved in Jordan over the last four decades, which led to distortion of the Jordanian society’s structure as the middle class disappeared, the poverty and crimes increased. He added that the government has to adapt anti-corruption strategies, and political reforms that begin with a real constitutional reform that respects the Jordanian’s will.  Obeidat pointed out to the recent political changes that satisfied the Jordanian society, however, the clashes occurred after that had bad effects, stressing that continuing with old strategies in solving problems may lead to lose the chances to reform and lead the country to the abyss.
