The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation condemned in the strongest terms the holding by the Israeli Government of a provocative meeting in the occupied Syrian Golan and the remarks by Israel’s Prime Minister that "the Syrian Golan Heights will forever remain under Israeli sovereignty". The OIC considered such actions and statements by the Israeli government as serious escalation and flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.
The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Iyad Ameen Madani, said that the OIC will call for a meeting of the Representatives of OIC Member States in order to discuss the recent Israeli statements on the occupied Syrian Golan.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the position of the OIC that the Golan Heights are an inseparable part of Syrian territory. He re-emphasised the unified position of the OIC, which calls for ending the Israeli occupation of all Arab territories occupied since 1967, including the Syrian Golan Heights, and considers the continued Israeli occupation as a threat to security and peace in the region and the world.
