Protests against Mauritanian prisoner's death sentence in Iraq

Protesters stood in front of the Iraqi embassy on Monday calling for the release of Mauritanian prisoner Abdullah Mohamed Mahmoud who was handed the death penalty. in Iraq. Mahmoud is imprisoned in Iraq after he was sentenced to the death penalty at al-Mathna Airport prison in Baghdad. The “For Life” initiative organised the protest in Nouakchott on Monday, where the prisoner’s relatives and young activists participated. The protestors were welcomed by the Iraqi ambassador in Mauritania who promised to follow it up with the Iraqi foreign ministry.
