The parliamentary coalition that followed Sadrist movement called, on Monday to dissolve the Iraqi parliament and carry out new elections. The Sadrist parliamentary chief Baha Al-Araji, said in a statement that his bloc in Iraq's Council of Representatives wanted to "dissolve parliament and repeat elections", referring to the Iraqi crisis because of its political problems. He added that “Iraqi partners in the political process cannot find solutions to Iraq’s problems, especially; the constant threat of dividing it, pointing out those early elections will face the plots that aim to divide Iraq. The call for early elections comes amid a political standoff that has seen Iraqi authorities issue an arrest warrant for Sunni Vice President Tareq Al-Hashemi on charges he ran a death squad and Shiite Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki call for his Sunni deputy to be fired. Hashemi's Sunni-backed Iraqiya bloc which led by former premier Iyad Allawi has boycotted parliament and cabinet, which coincided with the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. It’s worth pointing out that, there are many disagreement points between the two sides, including the selection of candidates for security posts in the government and formation of strategic policy council, which was agreed at Erbil meeting, as well as the PM’s statements, questioning the importance of the Council and its role.
