Security sources have confirmed to ‘Arabstoday” that the Mauritanian authorities decided to transfer the Salafi prisoners from the capital central prison in Nouakchott to Alak’s central prison, after they have completed building it. To be the first detainees to enter Alak prison since the establishment in 2009. The source said that the first group consists of 32 Salafi prisoners; the prison includes more civilian detainees who were sentenced for murdering or corruption. The transfer comes as a step to decrease the pressure in the central prison. The authorities have used military planes to transfer the prisoners to ‘Alak”. Nouakchott’s border has witnessed high security presence since yesterday which comes in parallel with the prisoners transfer process.
