The Egyptian Salafi Watan party has denied that party chairman Emad Abdul Ghafoor said he had “no problem with the Camp David Accords and making peace with Israel.” The comments, printed in the Times of Israel have been staunchly denied by the party who accused the paper of publishing fabricated interviews in order to tarnish the party image. Ghafoor, who is currently the first advisor to President Morsi, reportedly told the paper at the world economic forum on Sunday that the number of Egyptian soldiers in Sinai must be increased. He also credited the Egyptian-Israeli relationship with progressing. The Salafi Watan party issued a statement saying that the Israeli media is “accustomed to lying and printing false statements.” The party called for a boycott of the paper and instructed all party members to refrain from interviews with Israeli media.
