Sheikh Hafez Salama, leader of the Popular Resistance in Suez, waged a sharp attack on Egypt’s President, Mohammed Morsi. He accused Morsi of pushing the country into collapse, adding that political forces were jostling for power. In a statement issued on Sunday, under the title "Don’t You Have a Wise Man?" Salama said: "In light of the current circumstances, Egypt cannot afford these conflicts between supporters of Mohammed Morsi and his opponents”. He pointed out that Egypt is currently going through a very bad situation whilst political forces were just showing off their power. He explained that people gathered in the Egyptian Squares do not reflect the ballot box and are only breeding hate between citizens. "Egypt is not a private property for parties or groups" the statement continued. "It is a country for all Egyptians. The current rivals are backed by some Arab countries which spend millions to ignite these conflicts." He pointed out that President Morsi was mistaken when he refused to change his mind without consulting the political forces and he must return to the right path, adding: "Morsi made a setback much worse than the setback of 67, as he can’t issue the decisions alone. All spectrums of the Egyptians must engage in the decision making. What bothers me after reading the new Constitutional Declaration is that it sneaks bad articles among good ones." Referring to President Morsi, the Sheikh said: "You have turned yourself into Pharaoh - but Pharaoh was defeated by Moses, so you should fear the consequences." Salama called everyone to put the interests of Egypt first and concluded his statement by asking citizens to go to the referendum and cast their votes.
