A Saudi hacker called Salman Al-Anzi was able to penetrate Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad’s email, after he hacked the websites of important Syrian ministries. According to Saudi paper Al-Madina, the hacker threatened Assad that he would download and publish “scandals” concerning him, his aides, and Iran’s support for Syria by publishing images from the Syrian president’s email. The hacker stated that he had four gigabytes worth of “scandals”, noting that he gave the Syrian president a deadline to carry out his demands, before he published the data he had. Israeli sources have also reported that a Saudi hacker had been attempting to infiltrate important Israeli websites, and succeeded in hacking the web page of Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon leaving a message saying: “You can’t stop me.” The hacker had previously gained access to several Israeli bank accounts, causing a public scare in the region.
