Sudanese Ambassador Rahmatallah Mohamed Osman has said Sudan will continue to campaign to expose the attacks of the Revolutionary Front in North and South Kordofan, after rebel groups stepped up their activities in recent months. Speaking to Arabstoday, Osman said that attacks have targeted innocent and unarmed citizens. “The world cannot stand silent, toward the crimes committed by the Revolutionary Front” said the ambassador. He added that negotiations, between the Sudanese government and the Northern Sector Popular Movement, have so far been fruitless. Osman stated that the negotiations with the Northern Sector will continue, but the main concern of the government is the "security and safety of the citizens." The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said that the recent negotiations between the Sudanese government and the Northern Sector Popular Movement reached a "closed road" because of the differences in the agendas of the two parties. The Sudanese government aims to halt the ceasefire completely, while the Popular Movement, which leads the armed conflict in the states of Al-Nil al-Azraq and South Kordofan aims to halt the ceasefire partially. The Secretary of Welfare and Social Security Amira Al-Fadil said that all measures and procedures should be taken to expose and reveal the crimes committed by the revolutionary front. Fadil added: "The international community must know the full facts regarding the serious violations by the Revolutionary Front.” An official spokesman for the neighbouring Ugandan Foreign Ministry, said that the rebel movements threaten the security of the region, and should not be allowed to target civilians.
