The Sudanese government has declared it is fully prepared to apply all the conditions of the agreement with South Sudan. Sudanese mediator and Ambassador to South Sudan Mutrif Seddik said: “The deal is expected to be officially endorsed by the Sudanese Parliament in the next few days. It had a consensus approval of the council of Ministers in an extraordinary meeting held on Sunday, headed by President al-Bashir. The ruling party will also approve it in the next meetings.” Seddik promised the heads of international diplomatic missions and accredited international organisations in Khartoum that “the commitment of South Sudan to the latest agreement, especially the security arrangements, will guarantee the implementation of all the conditions of the agreement.” He also urged the ambassadors to brief their countries’ governments about the agreement, insisting on the importance of fulfilling the committments of the international community towards Sudan.” Friends and brothers should help in the coming stage by cancelling Sudan’s debts, he added. Seddik asked the ambassadors to urge the US to remove Sudan from the list of states sponsors of terrorism and withdraw the economic sanctions imposed on Sudan since 1989. Salah Halima, Arab league representative promised to ask the international community to support the agreement and support Sudan in overcoming its external debts issue. On Tuesday, Head of the government’s delegation to talks with South Sudan, Idris Abdul Qadir, and the ambassador to South Sudan Mutrif Seddik will brief the leaders of political parties and movements about the conditions and the content of the deal in order to gain their support.
