Suez marchers disobey curfew again

Thousands of Suez citizens have taken to the streets for a third consecutive day, challenging Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi’s declaration of a state of emergency and overnight curfew in three of the country’s Canal cities. Huge crowds gathered in the Arbein, the city’s biggest square, in a protest characterised by music. Protesters played musical instruments and sang popular songs, while women and children joined the demonstration with banners calling for civil disobedience and the fall of the regime. Marches moved on from the protest, sweeping throughout the city in a sea of Suez and Egyptian flags. Shopkeepers and Chamber of Commerce staff also participated. Disobedience in the face of Morsi’s continues. Younger marchers announced their intentions to organise football matches and concerts within the hours of the curfew.
