The Beirut - Aleppo airline route is to be reopened on December 23, with two flights a week (Monday and Friday), the general manager of Syrian Arab Airlines (SAAL) in Beirut, Rashid Attar announced. The airline route has been suspended since 2002. About the importance of the step, Attar said: “After studying it carefully and taking into account the relationship between Syria and Lebanon, SAAL has decided to reopen the Beirut - Aleppo airline route with two flights a week." Attar also said that he had no information about the possibility of imposing a no-fly zone over Syria, saying "we hadn’t been informed about any restrictions of flights from Beirut,” pointing out that the Syrian company has flights from Brussels to Beirut and Damascus. He added: “At the moment, we are considering the launch of new flights, and announcements will be made in due time.”
