Syria: No pilot's defection to Turkey

Syria officially denied reports on Saturday that a military pilot has defected and landed his aircraft in neighboring Turkey. An official source said in a statement to the Arab Syrian News Agency (SANA) as describing such reports as baseless. He was alluding to media reports saying that the pilot of a military helicopter did not heed orders to hit opposition activists' strongholds, and, instead, he attacked a building occupied by the regime security personnel. The military pilot reportedly flew to Turkey after running out of ammunition.
