The Syrian Coalition has launched an urgent appeal for relief efforts to rescue over 1,000 injured civilians in Qusayr. The city of Qusayr has been under constant bombardment from the Syrian regime, and a large number of civilians living in the area have been injured due to recent assaults from Assad forces and Hezbollah militia. Qusayr also suffers from a shortage of doctors, paramedics and first aid kits. These shortages and the urgent need for relief efforts have resulted in the coalition calling for international relief. A statement from the coalition said “these civilians must be moved out of the city as soon as possible, in order to secure treatment in safe areas.” They also called on the Red Cross and the Red Crescent to take action, as it is their “moral and humanitarian obligation to provide civilians with the necessary protection.” The coalition further pleaded for help freeing detainees imprisoned by the regime. ”Long live Syria and its people, free and with honour,” they said.
