Prince El Hassan bin Talal, former Jordanian Crown Prince explained that the youth movement surprised many Arab and international observers due to the absence of any forecasters predicting such events. In his speech at the Fifth Arab Youth Congress entitled "The Arab future in light the youth movement" which was held on Sunday in the Jordanian capital, Amman, he pointed out that youth across the Arab world are facing the same challenges. He explained that the primary driver of change is currently the elimination of poverty and unemployment. He pointed out that the youth movement marked a new era and a new generation of Arab youth which has reached the age of political maturity and is aware of the importance of the law in the service of society. He added that youth mobility enhanced self-esteem and ended an era of confusion and hesitation amongst the younger generation, stressing that the movement does not belong to a class or a particular party or sect.
