Damascus lashed out at Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi on Thursday, saying he has “submitted his credentials to states and terrorist organizations that are seeking to destroy Syria.” “Arabi is hallucinating about changing the political system of a founding state of the Arab League and he's only an employee who works for its states,” Syria's Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Maqdisi said. On Wednesday, Arabi said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime will not stay in power for long, urging the opposition meeting in Qatar to put aside their differences. "It is important to unify the opposition's visions, especially because everyone knows that the regime in Syria will not remain for long and one day there will be a new situation in Syria," he told reporters in Cairo. Preparations must start for a transitional government to be ready when "there are changes on the ground," said the Arab League Secretary General.
