Tunisian Ministry of Defence has denied that Qatari army is providing aid to secure its borders, stressing that the news that appeared on papers and social networks is false. In a statement on Monday evening, the minister said that the Qataris task in Tunisia is limited to “humanitarian work at the Qatari camp set up in South Tunisia to receive refugees from Libya.” Qatar had set up the camp during the Libyan battles at Tataouine province, and hosted up to 1600 refugees. The camp was dismantled on February 2, and all the equipments were moved to a warehouse in Tataouine. The Tunisian Defence Ministry’s denial came after the rumours on Qatari aid, which have spread after the Qatari Military Chief of Staff's visit to Tunisia, where he held meetings with the Tunisian Prime Minister, the Defence Minister, and the Tunisian Chief of Staff to discuss “issues of mutual concern and the means to develop them.”
