Tunisian Marine Guard officers have arrested 200 Africans on board a ?fishing boat 45 miles away from the main dock in eastern coast of Sfax, south ?Tunisia.? Initial investigations revealed that the detainees, from several African countries, had boarded the boat from Libyan coasts, in the hope of securing an illegal entry into Italy. The Tunisian authorities provided shelter to the African immigrants and have begun procedures to deport them.? The Arab Maghreb countries have struggled to contain the problem of illegal immigration since the ?so-called Arab Spring revolutions.? Tunisia's minister of Immigration and Expatriates Hussein al-Jaziri has announced plans to establish a new Supreme Council for Migration in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs. Jaziri made the announcement at a recent seminar about Tunisians living abroad. The minister explained that the council would be an independent ?institution which would work closely with Tunisians around the world.
