Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui pointed out the importance to address factors behind the increase in illegal migration, which, requires political solutions to crises and conflicts, human rights protection and implementation of the sustained development programme by 2030 on the basis of a comprehensive, long-standing and joint-liability approach.
Taking the floor, Monday, on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York and the UN Summit for Refugees and Migrants, he added that Tunisia is working to devise a national strategy to promote organised migration and to involve Tunisian emigrants in economic and social development, according to a Foreign Ministry press release Wednesday.
The strategy also seeks to preserve the rights of Tunisian emigrants and ensure the protection of foreign migrants and asylum seekers, while fighting against illegal migration and finishing the law on human trafficking.
