Tunisian authorities chasing Belaid suspect

Tunisian security forces are combing the country’s northwestern Kef mountain region, in search of an individual suspected of being involved in the murder of left-wing leader Chokri Belaid. Security sources told Arabstoday authorities were looking for Kamel Gadhgadhi, a 34-year-old man from the country’s Jendouba province. The suspect reportedly joined a Tunisian Salafist group after the revolution that ousted former dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in 2011. Security forces have closed all road exits in Ouerghui between Tourief and Sakiet Sidi Youssef. Authorities were also combing areas close to the Algerian border. A man suspected of driving the motorbike on which Belaid’s assassins left the crime scene was arrested on Monday evening.
