Official spokesman for the Nedaa Tunis Movement Ridha Belhaj, stated to a private-owned radio that the Tunisian government has reassigned personal guards to the head of the party and former interim Prime Minister Caid Essebsi, after withdrawing the force last July. The reassignment of personal guards to Beji Caid Essebsi comes after a Nedaa Tunis leader made an announcement yesterday that friends of Tunisia informed him that there was a plot from members within the Tunisian government to assassinate Essebsi before October 23. Belhaj added that their party was not invited to the dialogue for national unity which he believes is not among the government's priority. The government expressed displeasure with the statements by the movement and the accusations for the attempted plot. In defence the government said: “Considering the seriousness of these baseless statements that target a government entity and away from political and media outbidding that may harm national security, we call the speaker of this statement to take full responsibility for false allegation against the government and the resulting repercussions.”
