Vietnam to move military flights out of 3 int'l airports

The Vietnamese government has agreed with the Defense Ministry's proposal on relocating its frequent training flights at Noi Bai, Da Nang and Tan Son Nhat international airports to other airports, local media reported Saturday.

The 921st Air Regiment will move from Noi Bai airport in Hanoi to Yen Bai airport in the northern province of Yen Bai which is under construction and will become operational from the second quarter of 2018, daily newspaper Giao Thong (Transport) reported.

The 929th Air Regiment will move from Da Nang airport in the central city of Da Nang to Chu Lai airport in the central province of Quang Nam. The 917th Air Regiment will move from Tan Son Nhat aiport in Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho airport in the southern city of Can Tho which is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2017.

The Defense Ministry has instructed relevant parties to hand over a 21-hectare area currently used for military training flight taking-off and landing at Tan Son Nhat airport to the Transport Ministry in October.
