One student was killed and 11 others, including a teacher, were injured on Sunday when a mortar shell landed in a school in the central province of Logar, officials said. The incident occurred at around 11:30am during a clash between militants and police in the Khaddar area on the outskirts of the provincial capital Pul-i-Alam, police chief, Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The rocket was fired by militants, killing one student and injuring several others at the Hamid Karzai High School, he said. However, education officials said one student was killed and 11 others, including a teacher, were wounded. Deputy Director of Education Wazir Ahmad Mohmand said the students were playing in the school playground when the shell landed amongst them.
