One person was killed Monday afternoon and 2 others injured in an explosion that blew off in a van on the main road of Lebanon's town of Choueifat southeast of Beirut, the National News Agency reported. According to the Aljadeed TV, caretaker minister of interior Marwan Charbel said that a suicide bomber blew himself up while riding the transportation van, and he is the only victim in the incident. Charbel added "the suicide bomber was wearing an explosive belt and blew up himself as soon as he got into the van." Shoueifat is a large town that lies to the southeast of Beirut with a Druze majority and adjacent to the Shiite southern suburbs of Beirut. A suicide bomber blew his car on Saturday in the east Bekaa town of Hermel, killing 3 people and injuring 18 others. A wave of suicide bombing has struck Lebanon recently with three such attacks hitting Hezbollah's heartland in the southern suburbs of Beirut, and two others targeted two Sunni mosques in the northern port city of Tripoli.
