1 killed, several wounded in Lebanon-Syria border clash

One man was killed and several people were wounded Wednesday afternoon in a shootout between gunmen along Lebanon’s northern border with Syria. In a statement issued shortly before midnight, the Lebanese Army said the “exchange of gunfire between gunmen from the Lebanese and the Syrian sides of the border left one civilian killed and several others wounded.” The army said the gunfight followed a brawl in the northern border area of Akroum. The statement said the army reinforced its positions in Akroum following the clash. It said the army is in pursuit of the gunmen. From DailyStar
