10 killed as militants storm peace militia's house NW Pakistan

At least 10 people were killed when some unknown militants stormed the house of a local peace militia commander in Pakistan's northwest Peshawar city, local media reported Wednesday morning. Abb Takk TV channel reported that in an overnight attack, militants killed the pro-government peace militia commander together with his nine family members including his brother, who was also working for the militia, as well as women and kids in his household in Badaber area of Peshawar, the capital city of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province. Police said that the militants hurled hand grenade at the house first, and when the family members came out of the house they opened fire at them, killing all of them right on the spot. Neighbors of the commander said that the deceased helped police to arrest many insurgents, which enraged the militants, who killed him and his whole family. They said that a few months earlier the same house was attacked in which three people were killed. No groups claimed responsibility for the attack, but police said that the militants came from neighboring tribal area of Khyber fled back following the attack. Police cordoned off the area and kicked off search operation.
