Jordan pledges continued support to Mideast peace talks

King Abdullah II of Jordan Sunday pledged continued support for the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, the state-run Petra news agency reported. The king made the remarks during his meeting with visiting U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. In the meeting, Abdullah stressed that peace talks should be based on the international legitimacy resolutions and Arab Peace Initiative and be carried out in coordination with all involved parties, especially Jordan. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Syria. The Jordanian leader reiterated his country's support to a political solution to the Syrian crisis, which preserves the country's unity. For his part, Kerry briefed the king on developments in peace talks and efforts to push them forward, voicing appreciation for Jordan's efforts in this regard.
