
15 Taksim Gezi Park protesters were sent to the court on charges of damaging public properties and being a member of terrorist group at Izmir-based operation in four provinces on Tuesday. Prosecutor's office released 2 of 15 detained Gezi Park protesters and 11 of them were arrested and 2 of them were released on conditions of trial without arrest in Izmir. Izmir Police Department had detained 15 people earlier who were identified through surveillance cameras and held accountable for damaging public properties and acting violently. Istanbul counter-terrorism teams also launched large-scale raid to 100 different locations in Istanbul on Tuesday morning and detained 30 people believed to have organized the Gezi Park protests and been active in violent acts. The detainees were reported to have been involved in violent acts against police officers and shopkeepers. The operation continues and the number of detainees was expected to rise.
