Twelve terror suspects in Egypt denied charges they attempted to overthrow the government and a lawyer representing two of the men said they were tortured. The 12 were arrested last week in Cairo's Nasr City and charged with planning terrorist attacks, al-Masry al-Youm reported Thursday. The men told interrogators from the Supreme State Security Prosecution that money officials confiscated from their homes was not meant for terror activity and did not come from illicit sources. They also said they knew nothing of weapons seized during raids. A lawyer representing two of the men said they were beaten during interrogation and that the case had been fabricated by security authorities, al-Masry al-Youm reported.
