A U.S. tourist opened fire in a hotel in the Israeli resort city of Eilat Friday, killing one person, before being killed himself in a shoot-out with a police unit rushed to the scene, a police spokesman was quoted by dpa as reporting. The report, monitored in Riyadh, said the Spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said the assailant, a US tourist, had quarreled with a security guard, grabbed her gun, and opened fire in the Leonard Club hotel. One man was killed. The tourist then barricaded himself in a hotel room. He opened fire on a special police unit which was rushed to the scene, and was killed when they shot back. No hostages had been taken, Rosenfeld stressed, and the precise background to the incident was still being investigated.
