A hayride overturned in Perkins Township, Ohio, injuring 28 people, and its driver, Michael L. Hermes, was charged with drinking and driving. Hermes was charged after refusing to take a sobriety test following the incident Saturday night, The Sandusky (Ohio) Register reported. Capt. Steve Reiderman, of the Perkins Fire Department, said the 28 victims were being treated for injuries, mostly bumps and bruises. Two passengers, Ruben Cruz Jr. and Raynoldo Cruz, were airlifted to a hospital for more serious injuries. Police say about 120 people were on the ride total, with 30 to 40 people in each of three caged trailers being pulled as part of the hayride. Hermes, 47, was also charged with aggravated vehicular assault, open container and failure to control and was jailed at the Erie County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. The crash is still under investigation.
