3 killed as bus crashes into bus stop in Moscow

Three people were killed early on Monday when a bus crashed into a bus station in the city of Kazan, Tatarstan, the press service of the republican healthcare ministry said on Monday. The accident took place on the opposite site of a shopping mall early on Monday. A passenger bus drove into a bus stop at fool speed, hit people waiting at the bus stop and then smashed into a lamp post. Six people, including a six-year-old child, were hospitalized. Two men died of grave injuries in hospital, and another person died later, medics said. The child was rushed to the Republican Children’s Hospital with major injuries. Two women received medical assistance and dismissed from hospital. According to the driver, the brakes failed to grip, he lost control of the bus and it crashed into a lamp post. Police and the Ministry for Emergency Situations look into the accident. It has turned out that the driver was stripped of his driver’s license some time ago for leaving the site of a road accident. Police sources said, “The Kyrgyzstan-born driver, born in 1964, received the driver’s license in 1989. In 2011 it was suspended for his leaving a road accident site in which people were injured, in Kazan. The term of an administrative punishment expired on March 23, 2013”. On March 26 he recovered the driver’s license and went to work as a commuter bus driver once again.
