Three militants from the Khasavyurt gang were destroyed in a special operation in Dagestan on Thursday, the information center of the National Antiterrorist Committee told Itar-Tass. Agents of the regional department of the Federal Security Service /FSB/ and police detected an armed group in a house in the village of Yubileinaya, Khasavyurt district. The authorities launched an anti-terrorist operation, and sealed off the house and the adjacent area. "It was ascertained that a woman with a six-month-old baby was in the house together with the militants. The authorities negotiated her release and offered the gunmen to surrender. The militants, who offered fierce resistance, were killed," the NAK said. One of them was preliminarily identified as Arsen Gasanov, an active member of the gang of militants. Police said the woman whom the militants had released, was his wife. Earlier, she had been the wife of Ruslan Gasanov, destroyed in a special operation in 2008. The gumen were well-armed. Police found at the scene automatic weapons and ammunition. The Khasavyurt gang is involved in numerous attempted murders and murders of civilians and servicemen, and extortion of money from local business people under the threat of physical violence. They killed a road police officer in the village of Mutsalaul, Khasavyurt district, on May 28. There were no casualties among the police or civilians during the operation.
