On Sunday 20th January, Palestinian security forces shot and injured three Palestinian youths during a riot that launched in the al-Am'ari refugee camp in Ramallah. The riot erupted when the Palestinian security forces and police interfered to open a main road between Jerusalem and Ramallah that was closed by protestors rallied in solidarity with prisoners in Eshel prison. The protesters hurled stones at the police while trying to clear the road that was blocked by torched tires. A witness said, "Clashes launched when protestors refused to leave the area, the Palestinian security forces beat some of the protestors and warning shots were fired in the air." Lt Gen Gantz, General Adnan Al Damiri, the official spokesman for the Palestinian security forces said that a group of youths from the camp, burned tires and garbage containers, therefore, the Palestinian security forces have been deployed to the area and blocked all entrances to the refugee camp in order to prevent the riots from escalating.
