
The activities of the third Arab-African ministerial meeting on agricultural development and food security kicked off Monday in the Sudanese capital Khartoum with Egypt's participation.
Organized by Sudan's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, in cooperation with the Arab League (AL) and the Organisation of African Unity, the three-day conference sees delegations from 65 African and Arab countries.
Attending the meeting are also delegations from the AL, the African Union, Arab Organization for Agricultural Development as well as a number of regional organizations operating in the agriculture and food security fields.
Head of Agriculture Research Center Abdel Moniem ُEl-Banna is leading Egypt's delegation to the conference.
The situation of the food security in both the Arab and African regions was discussed during the meeting that stood on the progress achieved by the joint action programs.
Participants of the conference are discussing blueprints submitted by experts on agriculture development and food security in Africa and the Arab world particularly.
Means of increasing Afro-Arab investments to achieve agricultural development and food security along with reviewing joint investment experiences in this connection will be tackled during the conference.
It will also outline a file on the Malabo Declaration on Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods.
The closing session of the conference is set to adopt report by an Arab-African committee on joint action for agriculture development and food security along with a report on the senior officials meeting and the plan of action.
